The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Synopsis: "In this adventure based on the best-selling novel of the same name, Arthur Dent's house is about to be razed when he discovers that his best friend is an alien and that planet Earth is about to be destroyed to make way for a hyperspace bypass. Now, it seems that Arthur's only chance for survival is to hitch a ride on a passing spacecraft. Martin Freeman, Mos Def, Zooey Deschanel, Bill Nighy and Sam Rockwell co-star."
(Synopsis compliments of Netflix)

Edit summary: Primarily trims the failed romantic encounter subplot to make Zooey less of a manic pixie dreamgirl, and the vogon side plots like the planning office. Also a few trims to make the ending match the tone of the rest of the film, and reduce the amount of infinitesimally improbable "everything is connected" events.
House
Synopsis: "Using a crack team of doctors and his wits, an antisocial maverick doctor specializing in diagnostic medicine does whatever it takes to solve puzzling cases that come his way."

Edit summary: This heavily culls the episodes down to the most interesting cases, as well as smoothing out the overarching plot and cast changes. Disposed of the antagonistic cop, billionaire, most of the romance plots, some of the new team recruitment, hostage plot, etc. The ending is also completely different since this edit focuses far less on House's drug addiction.

This brings the series to a svelte 18 hours, and although it's a heavier cut than I normally do at only 14% the length of the original, I think it does a good job at reducing the procedural feel and making it more of a quality and enjoyable rewatch.
King Arthur
Synopsis: "King Arthur (Clive Owen) and the Knights of the Round Table are struggling to retain power amid a shaky political landscape in Antoine Fuqua's thrilling take on the myth of Camelot, which is steeped in gritty realism and the politics of its time. As the Roman Empire falls, everyone is trying to wrest control, but time is marching toward the Dark Ages. Stephen Dillane and Keira Knightley co-star as Merlin and Guinevere, respectively."
(Synopsis compliments of Netflix)

Edit summary: Small cuts to reduce the emphasis on the tie-in with the Arthurian mythos, this story doesn't really have any relation and is better without that baggage. Heavy cuts of the dialogue, especially Keira Knightley, making the film a more quiet epic.
Resident Evil
Synopsis: "Alice goes on a tense globetrotting journey from the desert to the arctic, helping survivors and trying to track and take down the remnants of the Umbrella Corporation high command."

Edit summary: Cleaned up filler material in earlier movies and cut large chunks in the later ones to make a coherent overarching story that doesn't seem ludicrous. The clone aspect was cut along with any other superpowers, taming the series into a more believable action-scifi romp that doesn't go off the rails half way through.

Please note, this edit uses the Extended version of Resident Evil: Apocalypse, which is somewhat difficult to find. There's a German and a Japanese Bluray release of the Extended version, with the Japanese being higher quality, but no US release. The other option to obtain it is the US 4k/UHD releases of Apocalypse - as far as I can tell all the 4k box sets (and the individual 4k/UHD Apocalypse release) seem to have both the Theatrical and Extended version on the 4k disc (but it isn't on the secondary 1080p Bluray that comes with 4k releases, unfortunately)

Even though the difference between the Theatrical and Extended version of Apocalypse is only four minutes it makes a substantial difference for several scenes, so remastering with the more easily available Theatrical edition would reduce the quality of the edit.

Ver8: Small but substantial trims, removing graveyard attack, reorganizing and shortening the submarine fight, and removing the hive swim, along with several other minor tweaks to scenes to improve the flow.

Ver12: Remastered. Please note the submarine fight scene in EP2 has a couple music changes between the headlock and uppercut section that sound like a bad edit, but they're actually just the original soundtrack. Several other fight/action sequences also have odd musical changes in the original soundtrack.
Las Vegas
Synopsis: "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but for the detectives who keep so-called sinners from preying on the innocent at Sin City's posh Montecito Resort & Casino, the secrets and lies are as insidious as any other poison. It's up to ex-CIA agent Big Ed Deline (James Caan) and his second in command, Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel), to rein in the cheaters and thieves -- if they can -- in this exciting first season of the NBC series."
(Synopsis compliments of Netflix)

Edit summary: The core episodes of the series with a cohesive narrative and the most interesting plots.
The Bourne Trilogy
Synopsis: "A man is picked up by a fishing boat, bullet-riddled and suffering from amnesia, before racing to elude assassins and attempting to regain his memory."

Edit summary: While I think the original Bourne trilogy is solid, I wanted something a bit more rewatchable - some parts I love but some long action sequences and slow parts really lose my attention when rewatching the series. So this reworks the plot a bit - removing the romance plot with Marie, trimming or removing a lot of the car chases, and integrating all three films together into a loose narrative. A few scenes are tweaked to change the timing/context since the last two films in the trilogy technically overlap.
Don't Say A Word
Synopsis: "Ruthless crook Patrick Koster (Sean Bean) and his partner kidnap Jessie to force Jessie's therapist father, Nathan (Michael Douglas), to help coax a mysterious code number from a traumatized teen girl (Brittany Murphy)."

Edit summary: This edit cuts back on the mother, daughter, and police woman scenes in favor of a quicker and less interrupted suspenseful ride. The police scenes in particular feel like a third wheel until late in the film, and the mother/daughter scenes don't do much beyond belatedly fleshing out the characters a bit more.
Lord of the Rings
Synopsis: "A meek Hobbit from the Shire and eight companions set out on a journey to destroy the powerful One Ring and save Middle-earth from the Dark Lord Sauron."

Edit summary: This turns the LOTR series into a 5 episode mini-series, using parts of the Hobbit series as backstory. It's heavily cut, removing Gollum, the mad kings, and some other side plots, focusing on the parallel journeys of the party trying to defeat Sauron.

It maintains the epic pace of the adventure, while trimming enough content that the slower than normal speed of the narrative doesn't seem to drag, especially when repackaged into more digestible hour segments at natural stopping points in story.
Star Wars
Synopsis: "Star Wars is a space fantasy that follows a group of characters with special powers who participate in the struggle for the fate of the galaxy, with the Empire trying to seize control and crush the Rebellion. The series is split into three trilogies, Episode 4-6 were created first, then a prequel trilogy (Episode 1-3) was released, giving the origin story for some of those characters. Finally episodes 7-9 basically reboot the series and poorly recreate the main plot from episodes 4-6 to "continue" the series with new actors in a cash grab for a new generation."

Edit summary: Ep1: Cut a ton of Jar Jar Binks scenes and some bad CGI, heavy trims to the pod racing to improve the pace of the film.

Ep2: Cut some Jar Jar Binks scenes, some bad acting moments, a bunch of droid slapstick, and streamlines other scenes for pacing.

Ep3: Cut the missiles and buzz droids in the intro, the back half of the General Grievous fight, streamlined some of the lightsaber fights to be a little less "dramatic", and trimmed quite a bit of bad acting and dialogue.

Ep4: Cut a little bad CGI, lame lightsaber moments, lightsaber jump cuts, and a long unnecessary droid scene, plus a few trims to fix some plot holes.

Ep5: Cut the random yeti plot, the cave, and Yoda acting crazy. Trimmed a couple iconic but poorly acted moments.

Ep6: Cut some bad CGI, and some parts of the Ewok battle.

Ep7-9: Trash bin

Ver13: Remastered
The Thomas Crown Affair
Synopsis: "This 1999 remake (the 1968 version starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway) showcases debonair Pierce Brosnan as a multibillionaire art connoisseur who, for kicks, would rather steal art objects than buy them. Insurance company troubleshooter Rene Russo stalks him -- all the way to his bedroom! Brosnan and Russo's chemistry is incendiary in this snappy mix of love and larceny."
(Synopsis compliments of Netflix)

Edit summary: Removed some gratuitous nudity and sex scenes that interrupt the playful tone of the film.

Ver4: This version recuts the transitions to be a little cleaner
Tomorrow Never Dies
Synopsis: "Pierce Brosnan stars as suave action hero James Bond in this continuation of the legendary 007 series, this time pairing the secret agent's continental charms with the fighting skills and intelligence of Chinese agent Wai Lin (Michelle Yeoh). The threat of World War III looms as media mogul Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce) pits China and Britain against each other to complete his global communications empire. But can Bond stop him in time?"
(Synopsis compliments of Netflix)

Edit summary: Cut part of the motorcycle chase to make it less long and absurd.
GoldenEye
Synopsis: "Pierce Brosnan takes his first turn as debonair MI6 agent James Bond, who -- with his sophisticated gadgets and signature Aston Martin -- investigates the destruction of a Russian satellite weapons base with the help of the massacre's sole survivor (Izabella Scorupco). Through brawls with the sultry and deadly villain Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen), Bond uncovers an international crime syndicate whose next target is London."
(Synopsis compliments of Netflix)

Edit summary: Cut a handful of scenes or partial scenes that interrupt the flow of the story and action, and part of the ludicrous tank chase.
Heat
Synopsis: "As two driven professionals -- an illustrious detective (Al Pacino) and a sophisticated thief (Robert De Niro) -- face off, they learn how much they need each other, and that the line between cop and criminal isn't always well-defined. Brilliantly directed by Michael Mann, Heat is a hyperkinetic crime drama about two men on opposite sides of the law who approach life in much the same way. Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore and Jon Voight co-star."
(Synopsis compliments of Netflix)

Edit summary: Cut the constant home/wife interruptions to Al Pacino's storyline and other minor cuts to streamline and focus the plot a little.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Synopsis: "A sweet boy from a poor family dreams of finding one of five golden tickets hidden inside chocolate bar wrappers which will admit him to the eccentric and reclusive Willy Wonka's magical factory."

Edit summary: Cut the ticket finding to be a bit shorter/cleaner, removed some musical interludes that interrupt the flow, and cut out a few goofy or creepy bits that weren't important.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Synopsis: "A down-on-his-luck inventor turns a broken-down Grand Prix car into a fantastical vehicle for his children, and then they go off on a magical adventure to save their grandfather in a far-off land."

Edit summary: This edit significantly cuts down the musical numbers (only kept You Two, Candy Factory, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and King's Birthday), tones down the slapstick a bit, reduces the creepy childcatcher scenes, and various other trims to bring down the rather chunky length to something that doesn't require an intermission break. The only one I'm sad about losing is the carnival dance song (the song is silly but it was fun to watch as a kid), but that sequence really breaks up the flow of the early story and is an easy cut to save time without impacting the plot.
