Westworld
Synopsis: "Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, explore a world in which every human appetite can be indulged without consequence."

Edit summary: Adjusts the opening to give a truer sense of the show, rather than starting out as a western for most of the first episode. Makes the storylines, especially in the second season, less fragmented. Reduces the emphasis on Dolores and puts her on equal footing with Maeve and other main characters. Removes most of the third season with the GTA plot and uses select scenes with Maeve and Dolores to wrap up the story, changing the ending substantially.
Into the Badlands
Synopsis: "A mighty warrior and a young boy with supernatural powers search for enlightenment in a ruthless post-apocalyptic America controlled by feudal barons."

Edit summary: Toned down MK's "special boy" plot and removed the magic powers and monks from the series. Made Tilda more tolerable, and reduced Veil's story a bit so it's a supporting story rather than overpowering the action with her repetitive plot.
Man in the High Castle
Synopsis: "This series, loosely based Philip K. Dick's novel of the same name, takes a look at what the world might look like had the outcome of World War II turned out differently. In this dystopian scenario, the Axis powers won the war, leading to the United States being divided into three parts, an area controlled by the Japanese, a Nazi-controlled section, and a buffer zone between the two."

Edit summary: Refocused the series fully on Juliana Crain, cutting the boring Jewish resistance side-plot following her boyfriend. Drop the last couple seasons with their lame plot twists and strip out as much of the 'teleportation' from Season 1 and 2 as possible to keep it more mysterious/plausible.
The Intern
Synopsis: "Starting a new job can be a difficult challenge, especially if you're already retired. Looking to get back into the game, 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) seizes the opportunity to become a senior intern at an online fashion site. Ben soon becomes popular with his younger co-workers, including Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), the boss and founder of the company."

Edit summary: Remove the affair and recut the ending to refocus it into a feel good film that focuses on the relationship between De Niro and Hathaway.
Youth
Synopsis: "A retired orchestra conductor is on vacation with his daughter and his film director best friend in the Alps when he receives an invitation from Queen Elizabeth II to perform for Prince Philip's birthday."

Edit summary: Trimmed into a short film purely focused on Michael Caine and Paul Dano. I liked the essence of the spa vacation without the drama introduced by the side stories. This does change the meaning and the core stories quite a bit in the process.
Black Sails
Synopsis: "A prequel to the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel 'Treasure Island,' 'Black Sails' is a pirate adventure that centers on the tales of Captain Flint, who has a reputation throughout the West Indies as being the most brilliant, most feared of all the Golden Age pirates."

Edit summary: Cut the gay and lesbian pirate relationships, Silver's slave girlfriend, and any other soap opera side plots and relationships that slowed down the main pirate plot. Specifically targeted Max scenes as well to make her terrible accent more tolerable by limiting her screen time.
Helix
Synopsis: "Centers for Disease Control scientists Alan Farragut and Julia Walker have seen their share of disease outbreaks in their time with the agency. But they have not experienced anything like what they see at high-tech research facility Arctic BioSystems. When the two lead the rapid response team that investigates a possible disease outbreak at Arctic, they enter a life-and-death struggle as the virus evolves."

Edit summary: Cut the majority of the weird cult plot that dominates season 2, and a few melodramatic or slow scenes in the first season.

The 3rd revision makes huge improvements to the second season edit, fixing plot holes and cleaning up rough edges in the original edit.
Maze Runner
Synopsis: "A teenager arrives in a glade at the center of a giant labyrinth. Like the other youths dumped there before him, he has no memory of his previous life."

Edit summary: This cuts the series into one film. Some action sequences are removed to make the action seem like less of a filler quota and focus more on the events that actually matter. Much of the first film plot is left intact but heavily trimmed, the second and third films are severely cut to make the narrative exciting but cohesive, with a flow that seems more naturally written and less cliche.
Wildlike
Synopsis: "After conditions in her new home become unbearable, a teenage girl runs away and befriends an older man preparing for a hike through the Alaskan wilderness."

Edit summary: Trimmed the start to be less sympathetic to the uncle, as well as giving the story a quicker start. A few other trims to focus the story more on the relationship between Mackenzie and Bart.
Winter's Tale
Synopsis: "A burglar falls for an heiress as she dies in his arms. When he learns that he has the gift of reincarnation, he sets out to save her."

Edit summary: Cut most of Will Smith's role, toned down the fantasy side slightly, and trimmed/refocused the start of the film to seem less scattered. Removed the majority of the voiceovers.
You're the Worst
Synopsis: ""You're the Worst" centers on two toxic, self-destructive people in a dark twist on the romantic comedy genre."

Edit summary: This edit strips out most of the side character scenes, along with their silly comedy, making a dark comedy even darker. It keeps a bit of the sarcastic and absurd humor, and has some lighthearted moments as well, but is ultimately much less of a comedy and more of a dark drama with comedic moments at times. It takes the essence of what makes the original great and condenses it into a real gut punch without the hollywood sugar.
Warm Bodies
Synopsis: "After a highly unusual zombie saves a still-living girl from an attack, the two form a relationship that sets in motion events that might transform the entire lifeless world."

Edit summary: Fix a couple continuity errors, and strip out a couple corny action sequences and stereotypical tropes.

Even though the edit is small in terms of minutes cut, it does make a huge difference to the vibe and flow of the film. Cutting the shoehorned action unfortunately removes most of the tension, and rearranging the scenes in a more logical way makes it seem like a much simpler story since it isn't being interrupted.

I like the unique story, but it does feel a bit too quick and light in places that should matter - like the end of three days, and the final bonies fight. They should have beefed up those moments rather than shoehorning in the unnecessary moments cut by this edit.
Battleship
Synopsis: "When a confrontation with alien invaders knocks out the Navy's main fleet, American and Japanese forces must work together to find a way to save the planet."

Edit summary: Made the main character a bit less of a screw-up, trimmed out some scenes that slowed down the plot but didn't totally remove the characters backstory, and put more focus on the boat battles - de-hollywoodifying it a bit by removing a lot of the "exciting" close up alien combat and flashy cgi.
Best Man Down
Synopsis: "A newlywed couple cancels their honeymoon and returns to the snowy Midwest to make the funeral arrangements for their best man, who died unexpectedly after their ceremony."

Edit summary: Stripped out some of the newlywed stuff and changed the order of the scenes around to focus it more on Addison Timlin's character.

Ver7: Moved one scene earlier to avoid potential plot hole
Newsroom
Synopsis: "Aaron Sorkin created this HBO drama, which centers on a cable news channel trying to return credibility to journalism despite plenty of resistance. Jeff Daniels stars as the ambitious anchor of a nightly news show, and Sam Waterston plays his boss."
(Synopsis compliments of Netflix)

Edit summary: Removed the Maggie/Jim romance subplot and cut large swathes of season 2 and 3 to remove the Snowden-type conspiracy plot, trimming it down to a show about people wanting to bring back real news, without any grand conspiracies or dramas.
