Advanced encoding notes for Wildlike (2014)
These notes are primarily used for precision audio sync, XML shift-script recommendations for different sources of the film/series, and notes on any peculiarities with the source material. Please note that these are situational, for example the precision audio sync details are meant for advanced/perfectionist users and not required to encode a decent quality edit.
If you're encoding an edit for the first time it's best to just use the default mp4 export from your NLE program and not mess with trying to get absolutely perfect quality until you're comfortable with the basics of loading, calibrating, and exporting an edit video. However, some Advanced pages list "Shift script values" that may make life easier for beginners trying to calibrate their BluRays.
-- 2025 update --
I would HIGHLY recommend using the most recent (2025) WEB-DL sources for this edit. The older BluRay sources have very poor sound quality and the new Amazon version's audio seems to have been completely remastered. The notes below apply to the BluRay version.
Shift script values for alternate WEB-DL encoding:

$frames_to_adjust = 624

The audio on this film is pretty rough, it has a lot of unnecessary white noise that kind of sounds like it's echoing around you. If you're using Adobe Premiere to encode you can add a 5.56% DeNoise audio filter to the center channel and it will fix the most prevalent issues.
There will still be a bit of odd white noise in certain sections, like when there's running water they have undulating white noise that jumps between the left and right channels for no reason, but using a higher (~20%) DeNoise filter will start to make the voices sound more echoey so it's probably better just to live with it, unless you want to apply a higher filter just to the few sections that need a higher value.
The dialogue isn't very crisp to start with so the 5% DeNoise filter doesn't really make it any worse, but if you hadn't heard the original you might think you'd done something wrong - basically all the sound is on the center channel aside from a few low level sound effects like spoons clinking in the diner, so the audio issues definitely come from the audio mix itself and not from misplaced channels or any user error. It almost sounds like they mic'd the scenes poorly and captured a bunch of white noise, then tried to remove it and add their own artificial white noise, making the voices sound a bit hollow and then creating further issues with the overbearing artificial white noise.
BluRay AC3 Audio, hasten 15 samples
